A sustainable approach is fundamental to how we do business at Wall Fabrics, founded on our core values of mindfulness, respect, creativity, and quality. Our purpose and mission as leaders in Australasian textiles industry is to ensure we run our business with a positive impact on people and our planet. This means encouraging responsible consumer behaviour and doing our part to foster circularity and regenerative textiles manufacturing. We hope that as a business we can nurture much-needed change for the better within the textile industry and do this in a way that empowers our team and our wider community towards creating a thriving planet for all.

Environmental Impacts

Our aim at Wall Fabrics is to lead the development of an ethical, circular and regenerative economy for textiles in Australasia, with minimal environmental impact. For our business, this means ensuring we are not negatively impacting waterways and ecosystems through monitoring the use of water and chemicals in our supply chain, engaging with our suppliers to help them transition to low impact packaging supplies, and recycling and/or reusing all recyclable and reusable materials. It also means gaining a better understanding of regenerative agriculture and working with our suppliers to help them develop regenerative systems.

Social Impacts

Equally important as understanding our environmental impact, is the knowledge our how our business impacts people. Thanks to the efforts of many hard working team members along the way, we continue to foster positive relationships with our community both close to home, and further abroad. Understanding our social impact means ensuring transparency and social compliance within our supply chain, providing educational resources for our customers, supporting our local schools and charities, and nurturing our Wall Fabrics team.

Sustainability In Action

Our teams are committed to sustainable business practices and commitments on a day-to-day basis. Read on for a broad overview of some of the implemented sustainable practices that form our 'business-as-usual'.

Transparency and ethical sourcing are cornerstones of our sustainable practice. Of the fabrics we sell, the majority are deadstock fabrics that would otherwise be sent to landfill or incinerated. Our team have implemented supplier analysis processes to gain transparency over our supply chain in areas of environmental and social ethical practices and are working on constant improvement in this area. In addition to this, we are members of Fashion and Textiles New Zealand, and work alongside a textile sustainability consultant to ensure we remain up-to-date with certifications and understand the points of impact within our supply chain.

Our New Zealand HQ has workplace policies to keep our staff safe, and we're proud to be able to support local businesses for our internal consumables. Certified compostable packaging is used where possible and we have a fabric scrap/remnant donation scheme to divert fabric off-cuts & scraps to local schools, tertiary institutions, community groups and charities. Our Wall Fabrics teams are dedicated to providing our clients with best practice care and usage guidelines for our fabrics, as well as sharing our knowledge and sustainable textile industry contacts.
